NAIROBI – In a ceremony blending environmental advocacy and state patronage, President William Ruto on Monday conferred the Head of State Commendation (HSC) medal on world-record environmentalist Truphena Muthoni, simultaneously drafting her into a flagship government campaign.
Muthoni, who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest tree-hugging marathon at 48 hours, was formally appointed as an Ambassador of the state’s 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign during the event at State House, Nairobi.
